Subscribe a customer who asks for your newsletter, after confirming the address.
With Mailchimp connected the agent subscribes a visitor to your audience, but only when they explicitly ask and after confirming the address with them.

Connect Mailchimp
Create an API key
In Mailchimp click your profile → Account & billing → Extras → API keys → Create A Key, name it PepoChat and copy it. It is shown once. The key ends in your data center (for example
-us15); PepoChat reads it from there, so paste the whole key.Copy your Audience ID
Audience → All contacts → Settings → Audience name and defaults, then copy the Audience ID.
Paste both into PepoChat
Open App Integrations → Mailchimp, enter the key and the Audience ID, tick the action, click Add actions, test with your own address, then enable.
Good to know
- Subscribers are added immediately with the status "subscribed". If your audience requires confirmed double opt-in, edit the action's body and change
"status": "subscribed"to"status": "pending"so Mailchimp sends the confirmation email instead. - An address that is already subscribed returns "Member Exists"; the agent tells the visitor they are already on the list.
- Mailchimp expires keys one year after creation. Note the date; when it comes, delete the action and add it again with a new key.
